Mike and Sue Bryan came off the road as Children’s Evangelists to join the Pastoral Staff of the Rock in April of 1994. Pastor Mike began working with children, teachers, and parents in 1978 as Sunday School Director of a local church in Northern California. Pastor Sue began working with children as she established “Jesus Clubs” in the inner city in the early 1970’s while a member at Crenshaw Christian Center and attending Pepperdine University. Her love for helping children led to a later date when she was employed by the Spastic Children’s Foundation in Los Angeles. Mike and Sue were married in 1984 and became full-time Youth Pastors & Outreach Directors for their church in 1985 until moving to Tulsa in 1989 for Mike to attend Bible College. In Tulsa, Mike was also able to utilize his artistic abilities by acting as the Art Director for Willie George Ministries/Church on The Move. Their history together includes numerous missions trips, conducting teacher-training seminars, as well as traveling as Children’s Evangelists. Both Mike & Sue are graduates of Rhema Bible Training Center, have three children and three grandchildren.
In 1997, Armando and his wife, Jackie, began volunteering in the Children’s Ministry. He then attended The Rock Bible College and graduated in 2002, the year his third child was born. After graduating, he was hired part-time as an assistant to the previous Early Childhood Director. His organizational and administrative skills flourished, and after three years of faithful service, Armando joined the Children’s Ministry team full-time, taking over the position of Early Childhood Pastor. In 2010, he moved to the position of Elementary Pastor. Ministering to the children of The Rock is Armando’s passion. It is his heart’s desire to see young children worship the Lord in song and deed. Overall, Pastor Armando can be described as a gifted Teacher, Leader, and Administrator.
Rev. Jamaal Brown is the Early Childhood Director. In 2006, Jamaal re-dedicated his life to the Lord and hasn’t looked back since. He began serving in the Children’s Ministry in 2007 as a helper, then team leader, and soon after began service coordinating, which prepared him to be the Early Childhood Director. On the 4th of October 2008 Jamaal married his high school sweetheart Yesenia (Jenny). They met in marching band and four years to the date of their first date they were married. Jenny now works alongside her husband as Co-Director. They have three daughters. Rev. Jamaal is an ordained minister and a 2011 graduate of The Rock Bible College.
AnneMarie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1989, at The Rock Church. Her love to serve children has been made evident, as she volunteered in the Children’s Ministry for 10 years before joining our paid staff in November of 1999 as the Nursery Director. Besides the Nursery, AnneMarie has also established two essential classes designed to minister to those members at The Rock with special needs; Brian’s Class (for teens & adults), and Brian’s Buddies (for children 12 and under). AnneMarie and her husband Jerry have four adult children and one granddaughter.
Mistee Carrillo has been dubbed the “Queen of Everything.” She is the Resource Manager and Child Care Coordinator for the Children’s Ministry. January 2, 2000 not only marked the beginning of a new millennium of church services, but also a new and amazing life for Mistee. It was then that she gave her life to the Lord. In January of 2001 Mistee joined the staff at The Rock Church part-time, and in December 2002 she became a full time staff member. She began her volunteer service in the Children’s Ministry and has remained there ever since. Mistee graduated from The Rock Bible College in 2006.
Lacee and her family have been a members of The Rock Church since 2004. She joined The Rock Christian School in 2011, leaving 4 years of service within the Colton School District Special Education Department. She began as a part-time preschool teacher for Kidzrock. She has taught both 2nd grade and 6th grade at TRCS.
Lacee grew up in Redlands and shares 5 children with her husband.
Lacee views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. She believes partnerships with parents are essential to enriching the experience at TRCS. She looks forward to honoring God by spreading the gospel to all of the students at TRCS.
